About Peppermint Pinwheels

Peppermint Pinwheels was started by Stacey Sharman in Berkeley, California in 2009, but she started sewing as a girl in Virginia a long time ago.  It took awhile for her to become the sewing fiend that she is today, as she learned the basics on a treadle sewing machine (the kind powered by feet!) and found the whole process incredibly frustrating.  However, after years of sewing by hand and testing the limits of many a sewing machine, she finally found a machine that could keep up with her and has been sewing non-stop ever since.

After dabbling with fashion and home decor sewing, she fell head over heels into the world of quilt-making.  She finds the most satisfying thing about making quilts is creating something that will be cherished and remembered for generations from random bits of cloth.

Peppermint Pinwheels' quilts mix vintage and new fabrics to create quilts that are both modern and traditional and absolutely unique.  These are quilts made to be loved and unless otherwise noted, can be gently machine washed and dried.

Each quilt is one of a kind, although they often fall into a similar "series" of work. As vintage materials are sometimes used, there may be signs of age (color variation, etc.), but these only add to the story of the piece.  Each finished piece represents countless hours of consideration and construction.
